#Summary

I have an “ems” file, but I don’t know what I am supposed to do with it!

Note EMS files are longer used

#Solution.

If received as an email save the .ems  file(s) to a floppy disk or to your hard disk (remember where !)

Sometimes the email system may append extra characters to the file extension, ensure the file has the extension .ems and not .ems.dat etc when you save it.

Ensure your security dongle is securely connected and you have already installed at least one Euronav charting product such as seaPro or seaPro lite

If installing charts

  1. Close seaPro down
  2. Insert the Euronav CDROM into the drive
  3. Select required language and then the  chart installation/ upgrade option
  4. Using the browse button, find the ems file on your computer and double click on it.
  5. The program will have set up destination folder for you. In the unlikely event that you wish to install from a different source folder you may alter this now.
  6. Press install – the process may take a few seconds to a 15 minutes or more depending on how
charts are being installed and the speed of the computer
  7. The installer will show you its progress and inform you when finished.
  8. Restart the navigation program and rebuild your chart folio

Make sure the ems file and the Euronav  CDROM are kept secure, they cannot be replaced.
You should backup your computer on a regular basis. If you do this you can simply restore any charts that may become  damaged (or transfer to another computer).

 If installing a product upgrade

Follow the above procedure up to 8, and then uninstall the old product (if applicable) and install your new upgrade (this only has to be done once for a dongle)
