ENC/S57 digital charts
ENC charts are Official S57 charts that can be used with a type approved ECDIS system as a true paper chart replacement. They can also be used with other S57 compliant systems such as ECS (Electronic Charting Systems), but are not then considered paper chart equivalents unless approved under local regulations i.e. paper charts have to be carried seaPro lite+ and above have the ability to decode and read S57 charts. Euronav can supply S57/ENC data from either Primar (Norway) or from the UKHO's service AVCS - coverage is similar and the data identical. Either can be supplied with a weekly update service for the period of the licence.

IMPORTANT: Non Euronav systems Primar and AVCS charts are S57 compliant, however they are shipped as encoded files, your system must be capable of handling the Primar security system. The ENC is encoded to ensure it is not altered in anyway from leaving Primar and arriving on the ECDIS system., its also used as a means of copy protection.
