1. Checking what version is currently installed
If you are not sure which version is installed - Set up HyperTerminal (found in Windows Accessories – Communications)
or other serial monitoring program to look at
the AI3000 output - You will need to set up for 38400 BAUD
Switch off the AS3000 unit, wait 10 seconds and switch back on , the unit will display its current version
2. Before installing:
You need to make a special programming lead connected as
follows:
2 RX Data ------------------------------------------ 7
Program Output
3 TX Data ----------------------------------------- 6
Program Input
5 Ground
------------------------------------------ 5 Ground
Connected the cable and power up the AI3000
Note:
You can use the NMEA 183 cable supplied (not the PC cable) and an extra 9 pin D type connector for the serial port on the PC -
you may need to cut back to the outer covering to expose the extra cables.
You will also need a multi-meter to buzz out the cable wires to
the correct pins on the D type connector.
3. Installation:
1. Close down any programs that might be looking for AIS
data (seaPro for example) or using your serial com ports (including any PDA ,
modems or phone software).
2. Using Windows explorer, change to the folder where you
downloaded the update.
Warning
Do not alter or try and view the r1_5.txt file - this is a
data file.
3. Run the program loader_r1_5.exe, if this does not start correctly you may need to copy the file
wsc32.dll to your Windows system folder
You should see a small box saying 'loading can take up to 1
minute'. Wait for the operation to complete, if the operation does not complete
within 60 seconds check the connections and try again.
Once completed, connect up your normal cables.
Your AS3000 firmware is now updated to version 1.5, you can
